The first season of Shakori Sessions will be released to coincide with the full moon phases of 2020.

Before the Shakori Sessions, there was the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance.

The biannual music festival is held the first full weekend of May and October in the rolling hills just outside of Pittsboro, NC.

Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival hosts 40 or more performing artists every spring and fall, and has done so for the past 17 years.

The festival was founded by Donna the Buffalo in 2003 as a non-profit event. Proceeds from the festival support the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center, which provides music and art programs to rural communities in Chatham, Orange, and Durham counties of North Carolina.

Some of the names to have graced the stages of Shakori Hills include: Indigo Girls, Del McCoury Band, Avett Brothers, Steep Canyon Rangers, Jim Lauderdale, The Travelin’ McCourys, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Cyro Baptista, Chatham County Line, Béla Fleck, Galactic, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Alejandro Escovedo, Sam Bush Band, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Billy Strings, Lettuce, Turkuaz, Rising Appalachia, Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

Shakori Sessions strives to provide entertaining and insightful interviews and performances with these and many other musicians you will recognize.

As with any GrassRoots endeavor, we will continue to evolve and improve our production with each episode.

We welcome any and all feedback.
